Crisis in Time-Dependent Dynamical Systems on PRL cover

Interesting work by ISC researcher Simona Olmi  and ISC associate Antonio Politi on PRL cover.

S. Olmi and A. Politi, Crisis in Time-Dependent Dynamical Systems, Phys. Rev. Lett. 134, 147202 (2025)

Abstract

Many dynamical systems operate in a fluctuating environment. However, even in low-dimensional setups, transitions and bifurcations have not yet been fully understood. In this Letter we focus on crises, a sudden flooding of the phase space due to the crossing of the boundary of the basin of attraction.

Condensation in Negative-Temperature Regimes in Physical Review Letters

ISC reasearcher S. Iubini coauthored an interesting paper now published in Physical Review Letters.

Title: Effective Grand Canonical Description of Condensation in Negative-Temperature Regimes

S. Iubini and A. Politi, Phys. Rev. Lett. 134, 097102 (2025)

Abstract

The observation of negative-temperature states in the localized phase of the discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equation has challenged statistical mechanics for a long time.

Read the rest

Criticality and Continuous Measurements in Quantum Sensing

ISC contributed to the organisation of the workshop: Criticality and continuous measurements in quantum sensing: from theory to experiments, held at the Scuola Normale Superiore (SNS) di Pisa. The event has been organised by Francesco Albarelli (SNS), Roberto Di Candia (Aalto University) and Simone Felicetti (ISC).
